William C. Looby
D.V.M., Owner and President
Dr. Looby was born and raised in West Medford. Ironically, he grew up in the house his grandparents purchased from Russell Holt VMD. Dr. Holt started the veterinary practice in approximately 1940.
Dr. Looby attended Medford public schools where he played football and basketball and graduated valedictorian of the class of 1971. The next four years were spent earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Harvard. He then attended veterinary school at Cornell in upstate New York and received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1979.
Dr. Looby took over the practice when Dr. Holt retired in 1980. He maintained the office as a single doctor practice until 1985 when Dr. Maue joined as an associate. Much as Dr. Looby had needed more time to spend with his family, Dr. Maue also needed more time with her growing family and the practice expanded to where we now have 5 veterinarians serving the practice.
Dr. Looby met his wife, Deb, while working as a veterinary assistant at Bruce Animal Hospital in Dedham, MA. Deborah was working as a veterinary technician and attending nursing school at Mass. General where she earned her RN degree in 1979. Dr. Looby and Deborah McCarrick were married in Oct of 1980. Their 2 Children, Christopher and Erin were born in 1982 and 1984 respectively. Deborah worked as a Registered Nurse for several years and later decided to assist with the endless work of running a veterinary practice and raising a family.
As one might imagine, a large number of stray animals have lived at the Looby’s home. Our current pack of animals include Darby, a Lhasa cross from Buddy Dog Humane Society and Jenny, a Standard Poodle.
Deb and Bill enjoy doing projects in and around their home. They spend as much time as possible with their family. Dr. Looby’s hobby is boating and he enjoys taking friends and family around Boston Harbor, Cape Cod and Cape Anne.
